This is a quote from Elder Lee Woods, “… I will try and send pictures… and a story if I have time. We only get one hour to write. One story is that one day I was on splits with our zone leader, and I was basically the senior companion for the day. We had an appointment with this one investigator, but she lives far away, and so we were walking in the direction I hoped she lived. On the way, we asked this family who was outside by their fence if they knew where she lived. They said no, but we asked them if they wanted to hear our message. They agreed, and we taught them… Afterwards we invited then to go to Church, and they agreed. But people down here have short memories regarding commitment. But to my surprise, they were at Church the following Sunday. They even came on their own, we didn’t have to get them. It was basically (maybe The Missionary Guy’s word of the day) a miracle. We are continuing to teach them, and I know they will get baptized, if not by us then by another companionship. I know the Spirit guided us to that family, and we eventually found the house of the investigator we originally set out to find. I see miracles of our Heavenly Father every day here… It shows that the Atonement of our Savior makes up for our shortcomings.

This last week, homosexual marriage was legalized all over this country. I want to quote my faith's understanding of the sacredness of marriage to this very serious and disturbing issue. This is from the Proclamation to the World, " We, the First Presidency and the Council of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, solemnly proclaim that marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God and that the family is central to the Creator's plan for the eternal destiny of His children...The family is ordained of God. Marriage between man and woman is essential to His eternal plan... Further, we warn that the disintegration of the family will bring upon individuals, communities, and nations the calamities foretold by ancient and modern prophets."
My son, Lee, is serving a mission in a foreign land to spread the good news of the Lord's Gospel and teach the importance and sacredness of the family. This legalization of homosexual marriage has only made my son's missionary work more difficult but the Lord is behind him and all like-minded people and will stand with them even to the last days. Well, this page finally received some bloggable information from the Missionary Guy, Elder Woods. He emailed his companion is from Nicaragua, is patient in teaching Spanish and they both get along well.
It seems Elder Woods and companion have had some success in contacting and teaching investigators. These two are busy doing the Lord's work. General Conference left an impression on Elder Woods. Remember, how important it is to support and sustain our Church leaders. Well, Elder Woods says he is going to put forth a lot more effort in sustaining and respecting our General Authorities. No more taking our leaders for granted. TEACHING MOMENT ALERT: Elder Woods commented he is grateful his mother taught him cooking basics so he does not have to eat milk and cereal three times a day. He says he doesn't feel like an idiot in the kitchen. As soon as this blog receives some photos from Guatemala, they will be published.
