Above is the Chapel in which Lee spoke today. It is tradition in our Church when someone is called on a mission to have what is called a mission farewell; the perspective missionary gives a talk in front of the congregation on Gospel teachings. Lee's gave a talk today on the significance of the Atonement of Jesus Christ for us all.
Quotes from Elder Lee Woods' talk: " First, (the Atonement) redeems all mankind from the fall of Adam and gives everyone that has ever been born or will be the gift of immortality. Second, it makes every man and woman accountable for their works and acts in this life and allows for anyone obedient to Heaven Father's commandments to return to live with Him in celestial glory. Third, the Atonement proves that we are never alone in this life and that Heavenly Father and His Son were and are Gods of tremendous mercy and compassion."
"Because of what Jesus Christ did in the Garden of Gethsemane almost 2000 years ago, we are never left to fend for ourselves. Jesus Christ knows all of our troubles, our sorrows, our anger, and our pain. He understands you, and has been there and done that."
"..., I invite you to think about exactly Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ were getting into so that the Atonement could be brought to pass and allow for us to return home to Him. I'm sure all the parents out there will be able to appreciate it more. Think of sending your cherished son away from His safe home, so that he could go to an incredibly hostile environment... Imagine your son being tortured and crucified so that billions of people could receive blessings they don't even deserve... Both of them endured all of that, so everyone could be resurrected, and those that receive Jesus Christ can be perfected in Him and receive eternal life." Thank you Elder Woods.
